Dubai International Expects 3 Million Guests and 200,000 Daily Passengers By neha - July 02, 2026

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is bracing for one of its busiest stretches of the year, with roughly 3 million guests expected to pass through its terminals during the first half of July, as departures accelerate from July 2 when residents leave for their summer holidays.

A two-week surge

Throughout the fortnight, daily traffic is projected to stay above 200,000 travelers, cementing DXB's status as one of the world's busiest international airports. The single busiest day is expected to fall on July 12, when more than 225,000 passengers are scheduled to travel through the airport.

On average across the peak period, roughly 265,000 people a day are expected to move through the airport, with a summer-readiness plan now in place to protect passenger safety.

Dubai's role as a global connector

Around half of all passengers during the peak are expected to be transfer travelers, reinforcing Dubai's position as one of the world's most connected aviation hubs linking East and West. The surge follows a record-breaking year for the airport — DXB handled 95.2 million travellers in 2025, its busiest year ever and the highest annual international passenger traffic of any airport worldwide.

Emirates flags a busy opening weekend

Emirates has warned of particularly busy departures from Terminal 3 over the first summer holiday weekend, from July 3 to 5, and expects weekends to remain consistently busy throughout the season. The airline is encouraging passengers to allow extra time for traffic around the airport, parking, immigration, security screening and travel between concourses before boarding.

Tips for travelers

Arrive no earlier than three hours before departure, and use online or city check-in services where available.
Families with children aged 12 and above can use Smart Gates for faster passport control, while Emirates Skywards biometric members may use facial recognition for quicker processing.

Emirates passengers can check in and drop bags up to 24 hours before departure, or 12 hours before US-bound flights, and can also use city check-in facilities in DIFC and Ajman, or complimentary home check-in for First Class and Skywards Platinum members.

Passengers should carry spare batteries and power banks in hand luggage only, and can track flights and navigate terminals via DXB Express Maps.

A celebration alongside the crowds

Amid the rush, Terminal 3's Concourse B is hosting the "I Heart DXB" interactive installation near Gates B28, inviting departing and transit passengers to upload a selfie that becomes part of a digital mosaic in the colors of the UAE flag, alongside a wall where travelers can leave handwritten messages about Dubai.
